It's Time for SPUDS on November 10 (Barbara Schott)
Once again we’re getting ready for “Spuds” on Nov. 10, our annual homage to what you might think is the state plant. This is when we get together and have a potato feast, complete with toppings like you wouldn’t believe.
This year an added feature will be our continuing campaign to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation in honor of Karen Crane. Look elsewhere in this issue for information about that campaign. We will be selling raffle tickets for the set of tires donated by Porsche of Boise, and there will be a few silent auction items and some other surprises. The theme this year will be “tailgating.” Although we’ll be indoors, you’re urged to sport the clothing from whichever team(s) you support. We expect a big Boise State contingent, but there will be other factions present.
The details: We will meet at the Two Rivers Clubhouse, site of the past several editions of Spuds—take Eagle Rd. to Island Woods, and go west a couple of blocks; it’s on your left—at 5 pm on Nov. 10. The charge will be $5 per person. Beer, wine, and soft drinks will be provided. (You might want to bring your commemorative beer mug from last year’s 40th anniversary Spuds celebration.) You’re asked to bring a potato topping as a potluck item.
RSVP with Barbara Schott (steve_schott_1999@yahoo.com or 938-9411) by Nov. 7 to confirm. See you there!
