October Silver Sage Monthly Meeting

October 14 - Third Annual Oktoberfest Show & Shine

Do you feel the chill in the air? Autumn is coming. That can mean but one thing to Silver Sagers. It’s OKTOBERFEST! Once again, it is time to clean and shine up that Porsche, and get it ready for our 3rd annual Oktoberfest Show & Shine. This year though, we thought we’d make it a little more than just a Show & Shine. This year we are incorporating the annual Ernie Ludwig Concour. So lets all put a little extra effort in for this great event.

Another item we are adding this year is a benefit. We are encouraging all members to bring a Teddy Bear with you. The bears will be donated to Ada County Paramedics and Fire Departments in Ada County. They will be used by these departments to give to children that they respond to for emergency care. As a retired paramedic myself, I can attest to the comfort something as simple as an inexpensive little bear can bring to a child when they are hurt or ill. So I hope to see a Teddy Bear arriving in every Porsche.

Oktoberfest will be hosted by da Vinci’s restaurant, located in downtown Eagle at the northwest corner of Old State Street and 1st Street, which is one block east of Eagle Road. We will have 1st Street blocked off for our use that day and there will be people directing you where to park. Oktoberfest is on Saturday, October 14th, starting at 2:00PM.

The past two years we have had between 50-70 cars attend this event, and I have a bet with Vicki Pentecost that we will have at least 50 cars this year. I don’t want to lose and anyway, it’s a great way to spend the afternoon. The cars, the camaraderie, the German wines and beers, and the German dishes on the menu at da Vinci’s. All done special for us at da Vinci’s.
